Overview of Hematopoietic System in Animals

Web1 mei 2004 · Hematopoiesis is the process by which hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) generate and replenish hematopoietic progenitors and all mature blood cells. 1 During vertebrate ontogeny, hematopoiesis is established sequentially in different anatomic sites. Webusing animals have incidentally found EMH to be involved. Thereby, the molecular basis of EMH could further be elucidated from those animals after cross-comparison. A deeper understanding of the extramedullary hematopoietic niche could help expand stem cells in vitro and establish a better treatment in patients for stem cell transplantation.
